About Us
How it all started
INDY HELIS.COM started as a business in 2005 by Kerry Muncy of
Indianapolis. Kerry, a veteran RC scale enthusiast for 10 years, has nurtured the dream
of a scale APACHE AH-64 ATTACK HELICOPTER for several years. He had attempted
to purchase several different models of this aircraft and even went through
efforts to build a few, including an electric version.
In 2004 he constructed a one-off profile version of the Apache as a
proof of concept integrating a gasoline engine, Spectra “G” mechanics and a 4
bladed rotor head and tail rotor. The success of those extensive trials
encouraged him to begin the 2005, year long process to develop a large, quality, close
scale fuselage kit at a price range within the reach of dedicated scale RC
helicopter buffs. Many dedicated modelers, designers and craftsmen in the
Indianapolis area have joined together in this Herculean effort under Kerry’s
tireless leadership.
